Early mornings are the best time to photograph resting wasps. This Long Bodied wasp was rendered motionless in the coolness of the morning. Giving me the perfect opportunity to get this photo with my iPhone 12 Mini and the wonderful Apexel 100mm clip-on macro lens!

Taster Macro Nature Photography Workshops are perfect for those who don’t want to or might not be sure about doing a full workshop. The Taster Workshop is a short workshop that concentrates on getting out in nature and having fun with the camera and hopefully learning something along the way. If after doing a Taster Workshop you find you would like to do the full workshop, you can do the Full Workshop at a discounted price! Either during this holiday or at a future date!

What to Expect from a Taster Macro Nature Photography Workshop

  • This workshop is just as described; a taster. After a quick explanation of how the cameras work off into nature we will wander.
  • There will be a maximum of six people on this workshop, if the workshop is full there will be two people sharing a camera. This gives me time to go through things with the people who are not actively taking photos.
  • Photos you take on the day will be available for you to download as jpegs.

    Full Macro Nature Photography Workshop

What To Expect From A Full Macro Nature Photography Workshop…

    • The workshop will start with a quick (non-technical) technical talk to familiarise you with macro photography camera settings. My aim here isn’t to blind you with science, but to give you a starting point according to your skill level before we head off into nature.
    • No more than two participants per workshop, so we can get the most from our time together.
    • Gentle guidance to help build confidence.
    • As we progress through our session together you will learn about ISO, f-stop and shutter speeds and how they affect your photography.
    • We will discuss how to use light and composition when looking for the best angles.
    • We will cover the pros and cons of natural light v’s flash when it comes to macro nature photography in the field.
    • Participants are welcome to ask questions during our session together or via email after our session, when more than likely, in the middle of the night or in the shower a question will come to mind!
    • All photos taken on the day will be available to download in both RAW and jpeg formats. The good and the not so good! As studying the good along side the bad is how we learn what worked and what didn’t.
    • After the workshop, we will head to a coffee shop where we will look through your photos together and discuss possible tweaks that might have improved the photograph.
    • You will receive class notes booklet highlighting what we went through on the day and a bit more. These will definitely be useful if you decide to continue your journey into macro photography!

What Will You Get From This Experience?

    • A unique and unforgettable experience on this beautiful Greek island!
    • Ultimately the perfect workshop is one you will walk away from having not only a better insight of how to take nature macro photographs, but one where you have also learned a bit about the subjects around us. After all part of the secret of nature photography is knowing your subjects!
    • Workshops can be quite physically demanding. During the workshop we will be walking across uneven terrain, maybe occasionally off trail. There will be times when you have to get down low to get the shot you want, so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

    When?

Workshops are conducted in the morning when nature is at its most sleepy giving you a better chance of capturing those perfect shots!.

    • Every Thursday and Sunday

The workshops will take place either on the trails in the mini-mountains above Pantokratoras, in the Kalamaki/ Lagana sand dunes or on the trails above Panagoula. New locations are a work in progress.
