Nature Photo Walks or Macro Nature Photography Workshops
A new and unique experience on Zakynthos…
If you have a passion for nature and an interest in photography, why not try a photowalk in nature or a macro photography workshop?
Photo walks are perfect for people wanting a more casual experience, but who still want to learn how to take their photography from snapshot to great shot! On these photo walks, I am there to encourage you to look, see, and photograph with intention things we see along the way with the camera you have at hand.
The Macro Photography Workshops are more intense and are perfect for people interested in having a go at macro and close-up nature photography in the field. With no more than two people per workshop, a camera with a macro lens is supplied (you are welcome to use your own if you have one).
The workshop takes us along trails, looking for small creatures or mini-scapes to photograph. Never done macro nature photography before? That’s not a problem! I’m here to guide you!
My hope with either of these activities is for you to leave with a better understanding of how to get ‘those’ photos.

Full Macro Nature Photography Workshop
What To Expect From A Macro and Close-Up Nature Photography Workshop…
- The workshop will start with a quick (non-technical) talk to familiarise you with macro photography camera settings. My aim here isn’t to blind you with science, but to give you a starting point according to your skill level before we head off into nature.
- A Nikon camera with a macro lens is supplied if you don’t have your own macro setup.
- No more than two participants per workshop, so we can get the most from our time together.
- Gentle guidance to help build confidence.
- As we progress through our session together, you will learn about ISO, f-stop and shutter speeds and how they affect your photography.
- We will discuss how to use light and composition when looking for the best angles.
- We will cover the pros and cons of natural light v’s flash when it comes to macro nature photography in the field.
- Participants are welcome to ask questions during our session together or via email after our session, when, more than likely, in the middle of the night or in the shower, a question will come to mind!
- All photos taken on the day will be available to download in JPEG format. The good and the not so good! Studying the good photos alongside the bad is how we learn what worked and what didn’t.
What Will You Get From This Experience?
- A unique and unforgettable experience on this beautiful Greek island!
- Ultimately, the perfect workshop is one you will walk away from having not only a better insight into how to take nature macro photographs, but one where you have also learned a bit about the subjects around us. After all, part of the secret of nature photography is knowing your subjects!
- Workshops can be quite physically demanding. During the workshop, we will be walking across uneven terrain, maybe occasionally off-trail. There will be times when you have to get down low to get the shot you want, so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.
When?
Workshops are conducted early in the morning before the heat of the day. When nature is at its most sleepy, giving you a better chance of capturing the best shots!
- Every Tuesday morning. Times will vary throughout the summer
Where?
- The workshops take place in the Loucha Valley, an area of exceptional beauty, over a 5 1/2 km route.
Time?
- Workshop start times vary throughout the summer, but we do start early to avoid the heat of the day when butterflies and insects are still relatively slow.
Duration and Price?
- €60.00 per person (maximum of two people per workshop), this includes the use of a Nikon camera with a macro lens – 30% non-refundable deposit books the date.
- Workshop duration is approximately 2 1/2 hours, but can vary, depending on what we see along the way.
What’s Not Included?
- Transport.
- Food and drinks.
Please Note:
- In the case of unsuitable weather for taking macro nature photographs, ie, too windy or rainy, the workshop will be rescheduled if possible or all money refunded.
